About

We describe this podcast as “Come Follow Me” by ordinary people for ordinary members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

We are a father and two sons who love the holy scriptures. None of us holds any degrees in theology, we have never taught in the Church Education System (other than volunteer early morning seminary), and none of read or write any ancient languages. We do, however, have a strong love for the Lord and His word, and we have studied His word diligently all of our lives. Our desire it to share the insights we have been given over the years as we have learned by study and by faith. We want to share what we continue to learn in a fun, but meaningful way. The word of God is truly the iron rod that can lead us through the mists of darkness to partake of the fruit of the Tree of Life, the Love of God, that is the most desirable of all things.

We have a video podcast for each week to correspond with the material we are studying for “Come Follow Me”. However, we have divided each podcast into two to three 15-25 minute segments for flexibility and so that no single segment will be too long. Of course, you can binge on as many segments as you would like. Also, our intent is to try to help you stimulate thought for your own scripture study, and not just a rote review of the study material.

Why are we “The Farley Boys” and not “The Farley Family”? It is strictly logistical. The boys all live within an hour and a half of each other, making it easier to get together for this video podcast. The closest of the girls is over four hours away and the furthest is a four-hour flight away. We sincerely wish that we could include the whole gang.

Here is a brief bio on the three of us:

David Brian Farley (often just called “Grampa Dave”) grew up in West Covina, CA until he moved to the small town of Monroe, UT for high school. He attended Ricks College where he met his future wife, Ann Bowers, from Springville, UT. After a mission to Tokyo, he attended BYU. He and Ann were married in the Manti temple his senior year. After four years in Boston for medical school and three years in Southern Cal for residency, he started a family practice in Oregon. Now retired, he is back in Utah with the opportunity of doing this video podcast with his two sons.

David Patrick Farley (Davey) was born in Cambridge, MA, raised in Oregon, and attended BYU-I. After a mission to Taiwan, he returned to BYU-I and married Lisa Gardner in the Salt Lake temple. He transferred to BYU-Provo to focus on his Chinese, earning a place in the Flagship program, and lived in Nanjing, China with Lisa and their first two children. He graduated in Chinese and International Relations. After working for the Church for a period of time, he is now director of Southeast Asia for Nature’s Sunshine. He and his family live in the sprawling metropolis of Emery, UT (pop. 300) and he enjoys the quiet country life with Lisa and their seven children.

Benjamin Bowers Farley (sometimes just called “the beast” because of his physical prowess) was born and raised in Oregon and then attended BYU-I. After a mission to Brazil, he continued at BYU-I and graduated with a bachelors in physics. During that time, he made a trip back to Brazil to confirm that a young lady he was corresponding with, Hevelem Maniezzo, was the “right” one? She came to the US on a student visa and lived with Ben’s parents while Ben was at BYU-I. With hearty parental approval, they were married in the Portland temple and have two children. After studying nuclear physics for a year at Idaho State University, Ben is now doing post-graduate work in Physics at BYU.
